Venthyr

Ravenous Frenzy buff which has a 3 minute cool down, so it aligns with celestial alignment / Incarnation: Chosen of Elune. This is a pure 3 minute spec.

Venthyr had a huge buff for balance druids due to the new legendary Sinful Hysteria. This legendary makes Venthyr really strong since it increases the time of the Ravenous Frenzy buff and adds 5 seconds of full stacks when it goes out.

As Venthyr you will gain a huge burst 20 + seconds into your cooldowns, you will lose out on the on demand burst which Night Fae provides, but you will gain more overall damage, and if you plan your cooldowns well you will be able to nuke down a priority target instantly.

Venthyr needs more thought process and it is harder to play compared to Night Fae. I would recommend swapping to Venthyr if you are going to push your class to the maximum. Night Fae is still a more versatile spec which provides more to the PvP and PvE scene than Venthyr.

Note that Venthyr needs more practice and more focus than Night Fae does. Always plan your cooldowns well and don’t forget to do mechanics/use defensives if needed. :)

Night Fae

Night Fae is the go to covenant for raids if you want a more stable and chill boomie spec and solo play. It provides significant burst and single target DPS. It is also really good for situations where you need to burst something down in a short amount of time. However, one side effects with Convoke the Spirits is that you hit random targets within range of yourself.

The Night Fae covenant ability (Convoke the Spirits) casts 16 spells within a 4 second channel that you can cast while moving. 10 of these are damage spells and 6 heals (if ranged), on average. If you are in melee the 6 healing spells will most of the time be Rake and Thrash instead. So slightly more damage, but not enough to bother only using it in melee.

Night Fae: Niya

The Night Fae Soulbind for the best damage output is Niya.

For Night Fae you want to take Conflux of Elements and Fury of the Skies and Precise Alignment.

Sinful Hysteria

Sinful Hysteria is the new Venthyr legendary which will the the only one you will use as Venthyr. It is a strong legendary that increases Ravenous Frenzy buff 0.2 seconds per stack. When Ravenous Frenzy expires it will linger for another 5 seconds before disappearing. This and some time before is when you want to use all your AP and spells that give you more AP.

Primordial Arcanic Pulsar for Night Fae

Primordial Arcanic Pulsar is a legendary that gives you 12 seconds of Celestial Alignment after you have spent 300 AP. This is the new Best in Slot legendary for Night Fae. This legendary puts NF to more of a 2 minute cooldown spec instead of 3 minutes. So you can use your Convoke the Spirits with Primordial Arcanic Pulsar proc

For Night Fae

I would play with Titanic Ocular Gland, Unbound Changeling or Forbidden Necromantic Tome and Inscrutable Quantum Device from De Other Side for most fights.

Empyreal Ordnance is still strong, but it lost alot of impact since it now puts all other on use trinkets on a 40 seconds cooldown instead of 20 seconds.

For Venthyr

I would play with Instructor's Divine Bell and Inscrutable Quantum Device from De Other Side for most fights due to its strength in the burst period. Here you will use Quantum Device first and then following up with Instructor's Divine Bell the last 9 seconds of your burst. You can also play Inscrutable Quantum Device and Titanic Ocular Gland as a combo or swap Titanic Ocular Gland out with Unbound changeling.

Shards of Domination

For Sanctum of Domination you want the Chaos (Unholy) set from the domination sockets. This means you want the head piece as quick as possible and two other sockets to fill in the three unholy shards. After that you want to use Shard of Bek (blood) and Shard of Cor (frost) in your remaining domination sockets.

You want to upgrade the unholy shards evenly to rank 5 because the bonus scales based on the lowest ranked shard. You can upgrade the Shard of Domination at Bonesmith in Korthia after you have completed the third chapter of the Patch 9.1 campaign in Shadowlands.
